The USUV Cabinet is a group of elected officials that govern and manage the USUV and its affairs.
Cabinet members are called "Leaders" and "Elected Officials" interchangeably, as all three refer to the same group of people. In the charter specifically, they're referred to as "Cabinet Members".
Cabinet members stay for 1 complete term, or 8 meetings.
Assuming the 3 week schedule is consistent, a cabinet member stays for roughly 6 months.
Running for Cabinet
Running for cabinet is pretty simple, and can be boiled down to a 3 step process:
- You send a message saying that you want to run for a specific position next election in the #usuv channel in the discord;
- In that message you say what you will bring to the table, usually improvements or fixes to something;
- Then wait for the election, where a debate between you and the other people running for that position may occur.
Note that running for cabinet is a 6 month commitment, but you can always back out at any time, but you will keep your position until the next meeting where a vote will be held to take over your position.
Also note that an elected official can hold as many positions as they like, as there are no provisions in the USUV charter for blocking an existing cabinet member from running for a different cabinet position. This is partly due to the low population of currently active USUV members.
Missing Members
After an election concludes and there are still positions open, an election is held the next meeting to try and fill that position. There are no provisions in place in the charter for when a position is left open for multiple meetings, it is up to the rest of the cabinet to figure out how to handle it.
Votes of No Confidence
A "Vote of No Confidence" is a type of emergency election that occurs for one of many reasons:
- The member was banned by staff
- The member has gone inactive without warning
- The member has gone against the ideals of the USUV
This culminates in a supermajority vote for immediate removal from office.
Job Descriptions and Tutorials
Each job has its pros and cons, and is best suited for certain people.
For example, here are a few descriptions that you may or may not fit into:
- If you like public speaking and managing a government; go for Head Chair
- If you have issues public speaking, but can hyperfocus on writing; go for Archivist
- If you're a PVPer and have good gear; go for Head of Security
Obviously choosing a job is more nuanced than a personality test, but for the large majority of people the job you like will be pretty obvious.
Head Chair
The Head Chair is the person who speaks at the meeting, writes the meeting agenda, and manages scheduling for the next meeting.
Overall its one of the simpler jobs, but it can be stressful when the meeting gets chaotic.
This is best suited for people that are good with public speaking and leadership.

Vice Chair
The Vice Chair is the helper of the Head Chair, taking over if they cant do something, and more importantly, covering the meeting if the Head Chair isnt there.
As this job is very similar to Head Chair, you probably want the same public speaking and leadership skills as the Chair.

During Meetings - Writing the Minutes
During the meeting, keeps notes on whats happening and who is saying it. This info will later be added to the USUV Meetings and Votes page in the spreadsheet form there. I personally recommend keeping a text file, spreadsheet, or the actual page open and write in it as the meeting goes on. Doing it this way will make going back and re-reading the mess of chat logs less of a hassle. Thankfully, if you do miss something, checking info is as easy as checking the #server-chat channel on the Discord and reading the section you missed. Directly After Meetings - Managing the Archives
After every meeting, one of the Chairs (Head or Vice) should drop you the original copy of that meeting's agenda. If there is a new bill or charter version written that meeting, its a toss-up if one of the Chairs or the Archivist will add it to the archives. Its best to ask the acting Chair in that situation. The book(s) are to be added to the USUV Archives (Located at the USUV HQ on Floor 2) ASAP, as losing it is not an option.
The fastest way to get to the HQ is running There is a chest containing materials for signs and lecterns at the end of the newest row of agendas, take the needed supplies from there and add it to the end of the current row. From there, your job for that meeting concludes. Downtime - Managing the Wiki
This section is optional, as the USUV section of the wiki is written in a way that makes it trivial to update, and the info here will stay valid for up to a year at a time, assuming no major charter changes. You would manage everything inside of the Category:USUV page on this wiki, but thankfully you have the rest of the wiki contributors to help. |
Judge
As the name implies, the Judge is the person managing the USUV Court.
